The approach

Different cardiac questions require different ways of seeing the heart.

Echocardiography, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI and rhythm monitoring are not four items on a list. They are four different ways of looking at the same organ, and each answers a different kind of question.

Choosing the right one — and knowing when the answer is that no further test is needed — is most of the work of a cardiology consultation.
